About this camp

In this advanced camp, middle school girls delve into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) using Python and the Micro:bit. Campers will gain a deeper understanding of how AI powers real-world technologies, from voice assistants to self-driving cars, and explore various AI-related careers. Through hands-on projects, they will utilize Machine Learning for Kids, a free web-based tool, to build and train their own machine learning models and bring them to life with the Micro:bit. The curriculum emphasizes practical application, allowing students to create their own AI apps and experiment with real AI tools. They will learn to demonstrate and explain how computers mimic human intelligence by making “smart” decisions, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

What a typical day looks like

A typical day includes welcome and instruction sessions in the morning, followed by breaks for snacks and outdoor play (weather permitting). Lunch and free time are at noon, with more instruction and a break in the afternoon before dismissal at 3:00 p.m.
