About this camp

Students in the Fairfax Collegiate Robotics Combat camp will design, build, and program combat EV3 robots for a variety of challenges, including sumo matches, jousting, and battle royales. They will gain hands-on experience with EV3 programming, learning about input and output options, custom programming blocks, control loops, datawires, and logic. The curriculum also covers essential robotics design principles such as gear ratios, stability, center of gravity, articulation, motorized limbs, and optimal sensor placement. Students will learn to utilize color, ultrasonic, and touch sensors, integrating sensor input with programming for complex robot behaviors. Through daily competitions and engineering challenges, participants will refine their problem-solving, teamwork, and strategic thinking skills, applying measurement and geometry to optimize robot navigation and path planning. The course emphasizes iterative design and testing to improve robot performance and encourages creative solutions to technical problems.

What a typical day looks like
