About this camp

Virginia Tech CyberSpark is a one-week day camp designed for rising 8th and 9th-grade students to explore the multifaceted world of cybersecurity. Through hands-on activities led by Virginia Tech staff and faculty, participants will gain an understanding of cybersecurity basics, software security, physical security, cryptography, network security, data science/security informatics, and ethics and policy. The program aims to introduce students to potential careers in the rapidly growing field of cybersecurity and equip them with foundational knowledge and practical skills. Students will engage in cyber lessons, hands-on labs, and team activities, with opportunities to hear from guest speakers or see demonstrations. No prior experience in cybersecurity is required.
