The program uniquely combines hands-on AI and data science learning with mentorship and college exposure, empowering girls to see themselves in STEM fields where they are often underrepresented.
The Techbridge Girls Data Science and AI Program engages underserved middle school girls in hands-on, inquiry-based STEM activities with real-world connections. The curriculum focuses on AI, data science, and community problem-solving, preparing girls to be builders and innovators in the AI revolution. Participants learn concepts, tools, and critical thinking skills related to AI and data science, exploring how these technologies can offer solutions and be used ethically. The program emphasizes culturally relevant, story-based learning, centering the contributions of Black, Indigenous, and girls of color in STEM. Girls develop leadership, confidence, teamwork, and critical thinking skills, and are exposed to STEM careers through role models and field trips. The program culminates in a Community Impact Project where girls apply their learning to make a positive change in their school or local community.
A typical day involves hands-on STEM activities, collaborative projects with peers and mentors in AI, engineering, and data science, and opportunities to explore how technology can strengthen communities.
This program is best for middle school girls, especially Black, Latina, and Indigenous girls, who are interested in exploring STEM and using technology to solve community problems.
