The Virginia Tech UPWARDS TechTrek High School Summer Camp is a two-week immersive program for rising 10th-12th grade students. Hosted at Virginia Tech's BRICCS Lab at the Potomac Yard campus in Alexandria, the camp focuses on modern computing hardware and intelligent systems. Participants engage in hands-on modules covering artificial intelligence, machine learning, Python programming, and robotics. The curriculum also includes exploration of Internet of Things platforms (micro:bit, Arduino, Raspberry Pi), electronic circuit design, digital design, and FPGA-based hardware description languages. Students will gain practical experience in these areas, fostering an understanding of traditional and emerging STEM fields. The program also includes field trips to leading technology and manufacturing employers, and offers a potential pathway to a yearlong innovation and research track with Virginia Tech faculty and students for top participants.
Weekdays run from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM EST, with options for early arrival or late stay for ride sharing.
