The Club SciKidz NOVA: Jr. Robot Engineer camp offers young campers an engaging introduction to the world of robotics and engineering. Participants will delve into hands-on projects, learning about fundamental engineering principles and simple machines. A core activity involves building a "Mars-like" RC Snap Rover, a radio-controlled robot capable of performing numerous experiments and activities. Campers will also explore circuits and power sources as they construct their robots, including an ArtBot and Bristlebot. For older elementary campers (grades 4-7), activities may include building a Robotic Arm Edge and a multi-function solar-powered robot called the SolarBot, with opportunities to learn basic soldering. The camp emphasizes problem-solving, intelligent thinking, and creativity, allowing children to build, take apart, and recreate their robotic projects. Each camper will take home the robots they build, extending the learning and fun beyond the camp week.
A typical day includes four science rotations focused on hands-on activities and experiments, with breaks for snacks and lunch. Pre-camp and post-camp extended care are available.
